Our topic from 25th Feb to 15th March is...

We will begin our topic with a trip to the MOSI where we will take part in a workshop 'The Wonder of Light'. Whilst in Manchester, we will also be visiting the John Ryland's library.

By the end of this topic the children will:

Understand that light travels in straight lines

Explain how we are able to see things

Measure accurately

Manage changing variables to plan a fair test

Understand the formation of the eye

Explain how the eye works

We will achieve this knowledge by teaching the children the following objectives:

Recognise that light appears to travel in straight lines.

To represent and report on findings.

To take accurate measurements.

To identify and manage variables in an investigation.

Explain that we see things because light travels from light sources to our eyes or from light sources to objects and then to our eyes.

Our class text will be Shadow Jumper by JM Forster
