Our new topic this half term is

CELEBRATIONS!

This is a Science and Computing topic. 

In Science the children will be learning:

To distinguish between an object and the material from which it is made
To identify and name a variety of everyday materials including wood, plastic, glass, metal, water and rock
To describe the simple physical properties of a variety of everyday materials

In Computing the children will be learning:

Use technology purposefully to create, organise, store, manipulate and retrieve digital content
Recognise common uses of information technology beyond school
Use technology safely and respectfully, keeping personal information private, identify where to go for help and support when they have concerns about content

ON SAFARI TOPIC

We thoroughly enjoyed our LEARNING TOGETHER afternoon!! We found amphibians, insects, birds and a mammal! Thank you for your support!

Our topic will start with a visit from Animals Take Over!

We will be able to handle and discuss vertebrates and invertebrates in detail.

This is a Science topic...

National Curriculum Objectives Science

To identify and name a variety of common animals including fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals

To identify and name a variety of common animals that are carnivores, herbivores and omnivores.

To describe and compare the structure of a variety of common invertebrates.

Describe and compare the structure of a variety of common animals (fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals, including pets)

This is a great clip for learning about animal classification!!

We will be sharing the story Snail Trail by Ruth Brown

and writing our own stories.

This is a great game for learning about 2D shapes.

Our topic is VILLAGES.

This afternoon we had a lovely (DRY!) walk around High Legh.

Our L S LOWRY topic.

In this Art topic we will be using drawing to develop and share our ideas, experiences and imagination.

We will develop a wide range of art and design techniques in using colour, pattern, texture, line, shape, colour, pattern, texture, line, shape, form and space.

Taking care using graphite pencils and charcoal.

We will be sharing the story of 'Stick Man' by Julia Donaldson.  We will be retelling the story and writing a description of Stick Man's room.  We will be concentrating on writing sentences with capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.

Our TOYS topic.

 

This is a History and Computing topic.

In History we will be looking at changes within living memory – comparing old and new toys.

 

In Computing we will begin to understand what algorithms are; use technology purposefully to create, organise, store, manipulate and retrieve digital content, recognise common uses of information technology beyond school and how to use technology safely and respectfully, keeping personal information private.  We will identify where to go for help and support if the children have concerns about the content on the internet.

We will be sharing the story of 'The Naughty Bus'

by Jan and Jerry Oke in our English lessons.

  We will be concentrating on writing simple sentences using

a capital letter at the start and a full stop at the end.

Mr Pinkerton, the driver of the Naughty Bus, visited us in Class today. 

We had great fun acting out the story with him!
