Spring Term - Topic 1



How has the nation changed? 

The focus for this part of the term is history.

The children will  start the term with a state banquet in school. They will be focusing on Queen Elizabeth 1, Queen Victoria and Elizabeth 11 and how society has changed over the years.

  • Learning objectives

    to look at changes within living memory. Where appropriate, these should be used to reveal aspects of change in national life

  • the lives of significant individuals in the past who have contributed to national and international achievements. Some should be used to compare aspects of life in different periods for example, Elizabeth I, Queen Victoria and Elizabeth II.


By the end of this topic the children will be able to:

Understand the role of a monarch and order the Br Monarchs Chronologically

Identify, describe and explain Queen Elizabeth I and England at the time of her reign

Identify, describe and explain Queen Victoria and Britain at the time of her reign

Compare the values of Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Victoria as seen in portraits

Identify, describe and explain Queen Elizabeth 11

Compare and contrast the achievements of Queen Elizabeth I,II and Victoria
