I hope you all had a lovely half term!
Monday 22nd February is an inset day so lessons resume on 23rd February.
Friday Fun Zoom - This week on our Friday Fun Zoom, we are going to do Show and Tell! It could be something you are proud of, something you have made or something related to our topic. In order to have enough time, I have decided to half the class so half will share this week and half next week. This week surnames A-J will share.
This week we are continuing with shape. Below you will find all our sheets for the week. Again, I have attached challenges if you wish to use them.
Tuesday - Counting faces on 3D shapes.
Wednesday - Counting edges on 3D shapes.
Thursday - Counting vertices on 3D shapes.
Friday - Revision of 3D shapes. I have attached a possible worksheet. There are 2 levels and a number of sheets to choose from within each pack. If you want a more practical activity, you could make 2D and 3D shapes using playdough/modelling clay and cocktail sticks like the images below or even with marshmallows and spaghetti.
There are also 2 games set on Purple Mash. If you want to go straight onto the Purple Mash work and not attend the Live lesson, you are welcome to. There is still a Live lesson for those who wish to attend.
This week we are starting a new book - the book is currently a secret because we are going to be practising our skills of prediction a lot this week. Below you will find the task cards for the lessons this week.
We are starting a new topic this week called 'Young Gardeners'
To start our topic go on a nature walk and identify the different plants that you can find. Can you see any spring bulbs coming up? What trees can you identify (there is a sheet below)? Are there any winter flowers?
Find some different plants to measure and complete a block diagram of their height (sheet below).
Your next task is to remind yourself of the basic structure of a plant. Watch this video before completing an activity. There is an activity on Purple Mash or you could draw a flower in your book and label the part - stem, flower or petals, leaf and roots.
KS1 challenge: This week complete one (or more!) of the challenges from Primary PE Planning. Share you score with the class! Who will be the champion?
Change for life have loads of PE games and activities to play based on different Disney films.
Find more options on the PE page or enjoy spending time outside with a walk or a bike ride.
On Tuesday 16th February it was Pancake Day! I am sure a lot of you ate lots and lots of pancakes.
Another name of Pancake Day is Shrove Tuesday which is the last day before Lent begins. Lent is the Christian period leading to Easter. Watch the short video about why Christians celebrate Shrove Tuesday.
Traditionally, Christians give up something for Lent as they remember what Jesus did for them and how Jesus fasted for 40 days in the desert.
What would you give up for Lent? You could complete the activity below or make a poster all about Shrove Tuesday in your book or on Purple Mash.
