Spring Topic 3

Young Gardeners

The focus for the next couple of weeks is Science. We will be starting our topic with a nature walk to identify different plants in our local area. We will be learning about different seeds and bulbs, planting seeds and watching how they grow. We will be doing lots of experiments with plants during our topic to practise our scientific skills.

This knowledge organiser has everything we will be learning in this topic.

Learning objectives:

  • observe and describe how seeds and bulbs grow into mature plants
  • Find out and describe how plants need water, light and a suitable temperature to grow
    and stay healthy

We will be learning scientifically by:

  • Asking questions
  • Observing and recording our observations
  • Creating a fair test
  • Describing our results

We are starting a new book in English called 'The Night Gardener' linked to our topic. We will be writing a narrative and a diary this half term.

Our new class book this half term is 'The Hodgeheg'
