Structures

Our second topic for this half term focuses on Design and Technology. We will be investigating structures and learning how to make stronger structures before making our own chairs to help baby bear. 

We will be busy designing and creating a new chair for Baby Bear! Over the next few weeks, we will be experimenting with strong shapes and testing different materials and methods to make a strong, stable chair.

We will be covering the following objectives:

• Design purposeful, functional, appealing products for themselves and other users
  based on design criteria
• Select from and use a range of tools and equipment to perform practical tasks 
• Build structures, exploring how they can be made stronger, stiffer and more stable 

We will be reading Oliver Jeffers' book 'What we'll build' as part of our topic. 

In English, we are reading 'The King Who Banned the Dark' by Emily Haworth-Booth, and children will be writing a banning narrative.
