RIVERS
As geographers we will investigate:
Locational knowledge
- locate the world’s countries, using maps to focus on Europe (including the location of Russia) and South America
- key topographical features (coasts and rivers)
Place knowledge
understand geographical similarities and differences through the study of human and physical geography of a region of the United Kingdom, a region in a European country, and a region in North or South America
Human and physical geography
describe and understand key aspects of: physical geography, including: rivers and the water cycle
Geographical skills and fieldwork
-use maps, atlases, globes and digital/computer mapping to locate countries and describe features studied -6 figure grid references -use fieldwork to observe, measure record and present the human and physical features in the local area using a range of methods, including sketch maps and graph

How to Train Your Dragon

We will be starting a new writing unit based on the book 'Arthur and the Golden Rope' by Joe Todd-Stanton. This will link to our current topic THE VIKINGS. We will be writing a myth narrative and also an instruction guide on how to defeat a Viking monster.
Maths
Our maths work this term will follow the White Rose scheme of learning, we will be introducing area and fractions.
To help develop children’s fluency in mathematics, we also ask each child to learn Key Instant Recall Facts each half term. We expect children to practise their KIRFs as part of their homework. Please work on the KIRFs for Spring 1.

PE
Our P.E days are Monday and Wednesday. On PE days, children will be expected to come to school in our new PE kits.
Homework
Homework is set every Friday and is expected back at school the following Monday.
