As poets we will be able to:

  • listen to and discuss a wide range of poetry
  • prepare poems to read aloud and to perform, showing understanding through intonation, tone, volume and action
  • recognise some different forms of poetry [for example, free verse, narrative poetry]
  • Write our own poems
  • Be able to name various poets both current and from history
  • read our own writing aloud to a group or the whole class, using appropriate intonation and controlling the tone and volume so that the meaning is clear

Our current class book is...

How to Train Your Dragon

by Cressida Cowell

We will be starting a new writing unit based on the book 'The Journey' by Francesca Senna and Jane Ray. We will be writing a narrative and a diary entry.

Our maths work this term will follow the White Rose scheme of learning, we will be continuing to look at decimals, money and time.

To help develop children’s fluency in mathematics, we also ask each child to learn Key Instant Recall Facts each half term. We expect children to practise their KIRFs as part of their homework. Please work on the KIRFs for Summer 1.
