Summer Term - Topic 4

Our new topic is...

During this science topic, we will be learning all about solids, liquids and gases.

As scientists we will:

  • compare and group materials together, according to whether they are solids, liquids or gases

  •  observe that some materials change state when they are heated or cooled, and measure or research the temperature at which this happens in degrees Celsius (°C)

  •  identify the part played by evaporation and condensation in the water cycle and associate the rate of evaporation with temperature

Our current class book is...

by Simon Mayo

We will be starting our new writing unit based on the book 'The Whale' by Ethan and Vita Murrow. We will be writing a setting description and a newspaper article.

Our maths work this term will follow the White Rose scheme of learning, we will be looking at time, statistics and properties of shape.

To help develop children’s fluency in mathematics, we also ask each child to learn Key Instant Recall Facts each half term. We expect children to practise their KIRFs as part of their homework. Please work on the KIRFs for Summer 2.
