Web Page Creation

image

Our new topic unit introduces children to the creation of websites for a chosen purpose. The children identify what makes a good web page and use this information to design and evaluate their own website using our school website. Throughout the process children pay specific attention to copyright and fair use of media, the aesthetics of the site, and navigation paths.

We will cover the following National Curriculum Objectives:

  • Use search technologies effectively, appreciate how results are selected and ranked, and be discerning in evaluating digital content
  • Select, use, and combine a variety of software (including internet services) on a range of digital devices to design and create a range of programs, systems, and content that accomplish given goals, including collecting, analysing, evaluating, and presenting data and information.
  • Use technology safely, respectfully, and responsibly; recognise acceptable/unacceptable behaviour.

There will also be a focus on writing composition: Identifying the audience for and purpose of the writing, selecting the appropriate form, and using other similar writing as models for their own.

Our maths unit will be moving to area, perimeter and volume, followed by statistics and for our English based book we will continue with Endurance by William Grill.
