Welcome to Reception's Homepage

We are a friendly class of 15 children.

Wishing you a warm welcome to the Reception Class Homepage.

In Reception, we are taught by Miss Bloor, we are also supported by our lovely teaching assistants Mrs Richards.

I have been at High Legh for five years and this year I have moved from Year 4 back to Reception. I really enjoy teaching EYFS and I am very excited for this year. Outside of school, I can often be found in Scotland mountain biking, climbing or sailing.

I currently lead Geography and French.

English

We will be starting our new writing unit based on the book 'Little Red' by Bethan Woollvin. In this unit we will be writing a traditional tale and instructions for capturing a wolf.

Reading

This half term your child will be given their first reading book and diary. Please read your child's reading book with them every day for 10 minutes. A little often has a huge impact on children at this age. Children need to have their reading books and diaries in their bags everyday, so they can be ready to be read with.  We change children's reading books every Friday.

Maths

Our maths work this term will follow the First4Maths scheme of learning. In number, we will be looking at number patterns and number bonds to 10. In 'Measurement, Shapes and Spatial Thinking', we will be comparing and ordering items by mass.

PE

This half term, PE will be on Monday and Tuesday. Please make sure your child comes into school wearing their PE kit on these days.

End of Year Expectations
