Music is a universal language and one of the highest forms of creativity. At High Legh Primary School, we believe that a high-quality music education should engage and inspire every child, developing a lifelong love of music while nurturing confidence, creativity and a sense of achievement. Through our carefully planned curriculum, pupils develop their singing, listening, composing and performing skills, gaining an understanding of a wide range of musical styles and traditions.
By the time children leave High Legh Primary School, they will have had the opportunity to play a variety of musical instruments both as solo performers and as part of an ensemble. They enjoy experiencing live music through workshops and performances, including the opportunity to perform alongside musicians from the Hallé Orchestra. Our talented brass band is a real source of pride for the school, regularly performing at community events and having been invited to play at the Royal Cheshire Show in recognition of its high standard.
How is Music unique to High Legh?
At High Legh, our teaching of music in Reception to Year 4 is taught using the Love Music Trust scheme.
Alongside this scheme of work, children learn to play an instrument.

Y2 Keyboards
Y3 Recorders
Y4 Ukuleles
Year 5 and Year 6 have a bespoke curriculum taught through Love Music Trust where each child is taught how to play and perform as part of a Brass Band.
Singing assemblies take place every week and the children at High Legh are given the opportunity to perform musically at Church Services, special assemblies and events.
