Curriculum

Our aim at High Legh Primary School is to enable every pupil to become a successful life-long learner. Our curriculum promotes the intellectual, personal, social and physical development of all our pupils.

We want our children to become confident individuals and responsible participating citizens through an exciting, stimulating education which motivates and develops them; celebrates their achievements and challenges their thoughts.

Children are motivated and inspired to be successful learners through a curriculum which has reading and vocabulary at its heart.  It not only includes the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum, but also the wide range of extra-curricular activities that we as a school organise, in order to enrich the experiences of our children and also the ‘hidden curriculum’; what children learn from the way they are treated and expected to behave.

Long Term Curriculum Plan

Remote Education
In the unlikely event that the school is required to close due to exceptional circumstances, learning will continue through our remote education provision. To ensure that high-quality teaching and learning can be delivered effectively, staff will require one working day to prepare and organise online learning materials. Following this preparation day, parents and carers will receive a timetable outlining daily lessons and activities that continue to deliver the planned curriculum. Our remote education offer is designed to provide pupils with continuity of learning, ensuring they remain engaged and make progress across the full breadth of the curriculum until they are able to return to school. Alongside academic learning, we remain committed to supporting the wellbeing of our pupils. Learning activities will promote a balanced approach, and staff will maintain regular communication with families to provide encouragement, guidance and support, recognising the importance of pupils' emotional health as well as their educational progress during periods of remote learning.
