Subject Leader - Mrs Jones
In High Legh art, craft and design embodies some of the highest forms of human creativity. A high-quality art and design education should engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. As our pupils progress, they should be able to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of art and design. They should also know how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation.
How is Art unique to High Legh?
The curriculum is unique to High Legh in that Art is threaded through our topics, revisiting and building upon skills through the year groups. We teach the National Curriculum objectives through Art based topics which are built around the study of a famous Artist. These are chosen because of their diverse identity which allows children to experience a variety of differences, linking to our wider curriculum of Global Learning, PSHE and cultural enrichment.
