Welcome to Class 6!
Our class teacher is Mrs Howard-Jones.
We have 29 wonderful children in our class. We are taught by Mrs Howard-Jones and Mr Ken.
I have been at High Legh since February 2025 and I have been lucky enough to work with Class 6 since then. Prior to working at High Legh, I have taught Year 6 for the majority of my career including nearly 10 years in inner-city London.
I love teaching writing and lead this subject across the school (as well as computing).
There are lots of very exciting things about being in Year 6 and I cannot wait to share all of those moments with your children this year.
Introduction
All the information regarding our topic, timetables and support can be found on our topic page.
This year homework will given as and when needed. This could be at given time, for example if a child has found dividing difficult after the lesson in school, I will be giving this as homework so they are able to participate in the next lesson and not fall behind. This homework may be a worsheet, or it may be online. There will be hints and tips to support the learning at home, and I am always only an email or phone call away should any additional support be required.
Year 6 is a very busy year for the children, and we begin early on with trying to support the children with their independance for high school. Please try and support by keeping up to date with what is happening in our class.
Our PE sessions will be on a Monday (indoor) and Wednesday (outdoor), for autumn term 1. We also have some football fixtures to look forward too and a netball tournament. We will also be climbing a mountain and hosting a charity event. Our topics this half term include: How do the human body systems work together to keep us alive and healthy? Why are mountains so important? How can we communicate safely, clearly & responsibly?
