CLASS INFORMATION
Homework
This year, homework will be given as and when needed. This could be at any given time, for example if I feel a child/group of children/the whole class needs more practise on an area of learning after the lesson in school, I will give a related activity as homework. This homework may be a worksheet, or it may be online. Now and again, I may do a one-off homework activity relating to a topic. Please check your child's reading diary each afternoon for any additional homework.
Spellings will also be given out as homework at the end of each week based on the spelling rule we have learned in class.
PE
Our P.E days are Monday and Friday for the first 2 weeks. Then it will change to Monday and Wednesday (17th September) when Nick from the tennis club will be joining us!! Please ensure that children come to school in their P.E kit on these days.
Reading
Children will be given the opportunity to change their reading books as and when they need to. Please make sure they have their reading books and diaries in their bags everyday, so they can be ready to change their book or be read with.
Your child needs to read every day at home. Please record this in their diary.
Group reading will be carried out as a whole class reading session twice a week.
We will read a book together in class each term and the children will also get an opportunity to enjoy reading independently in class.
Our class book is Stig of the Dump by Clive King

Key Instant Recall Facts for Year 3
To help develop children's fluency in mathematics, we also ask each child to learn Key Instant Recall Facts each half term. We expect children to practise their KIRFs as part of their homework.
