TOPIC  Textiles

Our new topic is textiles!  This is a Design Technology  (DT) topic and we will be following

 our DT scheme of work from KAPOW. We will be making our very own hand puppet and investigating how we can join materials together.

We will be designing a purposeful, functional and appealing puppet 
Generating, developing, modelling and communicating our ideas through talking, drawing,
templates, mock-ups and, where appropriate, information and communication
technology
Selecting from and using a range of tools and equipment to perform practical tasks [for
example, cutting, shaping, joining and finishing]
Selecting from and using a wide range of materials and textiles
Exploring a range of existing products
Evaluating our ideas and products against design criteria

We will continue with our Vehicle Text 'Old Bear' by Jane Hissey.

 We will be writing a message as if we were one of the characters from the story.

We will continue with our class read 'A Bear called Paddington' by Michael Bond.

We enjoyed playing with the puppets!!

Today we have explored joining techniques - using staples, glue and safety pins.
